Friday!

We have started our Book Clubs for reading. Ask your child about the book they are reading. We will have our Reading Sock Hop next Friday afternoon. A letter went home today about the Sock Hop. Students can dress up in 50's style all day if they choose to. Tuesday morning is the absolute final deadline to turn in the reading logs. we still need to collect items for our carnival basket. Thank you to those who have already donated items. Our class will be taking the Montcas tests during the week of March 7th. Have a great weekend. It's almost March. Does that mean Spring weather is around the corner? I sure hope so. Stay warm.

Wednesday

Progress reports went home today in Wednesday envelopes. This is the last week for students to read their pages to go to the Sock Hop. If your student has not read the 450 pages required, they received a notice today of how many pages they need to reach their goal. We don't have many items yet for our carnival basket. Our theme is "Family Movie Night". We need to collect all items by next Friday, March 4th. Our class will be taking the Montcas tests during the second week of March.
Please remember to return signed midterms by Friday. Stay warm and have a good night.

Wednesday

We had a great morning during our Dr. Seuss-A-Thon. The students had fun reading all morning and then we finished the morning with hot chocolate and cookies. Everyone is working hard to reach their 450 pages so they can attend the Sock Hop. So far our class has read 10,312 pages. Wow! Our wing goal is 50,000 pages. Several students have not turned in their logs and we only have 2 weeks left.

Monday

Happy Valentines Day! What a fun day we had in Room 17! In the spirit of Valentines Day let me just tell you how much I really enjoy working with your children each and everyday. They are so much fun and I love watching them learn.
Our Chapter 6 math test is tomorrow. They took their Math books home to study the Chapter test in the book. Tomorrow we will have a class study session before the test. They can ask for help on any of the problems they had trouble with.
For our half day on Wednesday we will be having our Reading Marathon. Students may wear sweats to school and we will be doing reading activities all morning. They may also bring a pillow if they wish. We will end the day with hot chocolate and cookies. School will be dismissed at 12:00.
No homework tonight, just study for the math test. The blue Sock Hop reading logs went home today. Have a great night.

Friday!

We will be having our Chapter 6 Math test on Tuesday. Don't forget to complete your Sock Hop Reading Log and bring it to school on Monday! Have a great weekend.

Thursday

No homework tonight! We had the Spelling Bee today and the students who represented our class did a fantastic job. I am so proud of all of them. Spelling test is tomorrow. We will be watching the Disney movie, "Miracle at Midnight" tomorrow afternoon. This movie goes along with the novel we read "Number the Stars". We will then be comparing the movie to the book. Information about our class carnival basket went home on Wednesday. I need two parent volunteers to organize our basket and put it together. Thanks! Have a great evening.

Monday

Homework tonight is Math Minute 22. Book orders went home last Wednesday and are due this Friday. There is a Student Council meeting Tuesday after school. The Spelling Bee is Thursday afternoon at 1:15. On Friday we will be watching a Disney movie called Miracle at Midnight. This is a great movie that goes along with our novel Number the Stars. Students will be comparing and contrasting the book and the novel. They may bring a treat to eat during the movie. Our Valentine Party will be on Monday, Feb. 14th. Students may bring in a decorated shoe box or bag if they wish to. We will be planning our party tomorrow. Have a great day and stay warm!

Friday!

The Spelling Bee is next Thursday at 1:15. There are six students representing our class. We will have a Social Studies quiz on Monday over the 5 Themes of Geography relating to Ancient China. Remember to bring back your Sock Hop Reading log on Monday so we can record your pages that you have read. Have a great weekend! Enjoy the game, food, and commercials!
