Thursday

Tomorrow we have our Unit 1 Spelling Test and a test over Book Genres. Book Orders are due on September 9th. Students can bring their orders to me or order online. Homework tonight is a Spelling Proofreading sheet. Open House is next Tuesday evening. Have a great night!

Wednesday

Book Orders went home yesterday. A letter went home also explaining how you can order books online. You may also still send the book order to school. Homework tonight is the Math Minute 2. Students also need to be completing their Reading log this week. It is due on Tuesday since we do not have school on Monday. Today we switched classes for the first time and my class went to Miss Felton's room for Social Studies.

Monday

We are ready for our first full week of school! Just a reminder that students can bring a healthy snack to school. They can eat their snack everyday. Also, planners are $3.00. These are great tools for students to use to help them stay organized with their assignments. Each week a Home Reading Log will go home. The first one went home today. Students are to read 20 min. per school day/100 min. per week and then return their log on Monday. Parents need to initial and record minutes read. This counts as their reading homework. Math Minute 1 went home today for Math homework. In reading we are taking notes on the different types of genres. There will be a quiz over genres on Friday. Our Unit 1 Spelling test will be on Friday also. Students took their pretest home today so they can study their words this week. Tomorrow we have library. Have a great evening.

A Great First Day!

What a terrific day we had! I had so much fun meeting all of my 5th graders. Students are allowed to bring water bottles and a healthy snack to school. Student Planners are available for $3.00. I cannot accept checks so please send cash. We had a great day getting to know each other and practicing our procedures. I look forward to a fantastic year. Have a great night.

Big Day Tomorrow!

Well, we made it to the "Big Event". Tomorrow is the day they have all been waiting for. We will leave for the YMCA at 9:15. We will return to school around 12:00. Pizza, chips, and desserts will be set up for lunch. Students need to bring their own drink; a non-glass container with a screw-on lid. Students also need to bring swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen. The dunk tank and inflatables will be going all afternoon. Thank you so much for those of you who signed up to help. It should be a super fun day!

Friday!

We are down to the last week! No school on Monday. We will go to The Reef on Tuesday. The bus leaves at 9:00 and we will return at 2:00. All students need to have their swimsuit, lunch money or cold lunch, towel, and a change of clothes. They can wear their swimsuits to school with clothes over it or they can bring their suit to change into at The Reef. This should be a very fun and exciting day!

Wednesday

The awards assembly is tomorrow at 9:30. Please make sure your child has returned all permission slips and $20 for 6th grade day. The 40 Book Challenge Pizza lunch is tomorrow. 6th grade day is next Thursday. I will be sending home a schedule for parents who have volunteered to help. We are asking the students to sign up and bring either chips or a dessert. All students will bring their own drink. It must have a screw on lid and not be glass.
