Wednesday

How lucky we were to get the 800 run in before the bad weather hit today! They ran at 8:30 this morning and all went really well. A lot of information went home today in Wednesday envelopes. I also sent home progress reports. These will go home every Wednesday. They help the students to monitor their own grades. 6th graders will be working on their "All About Me" projects tomorrow. They need to bring pictures, stickers, etc... to use. October book orders also went home today. Tomorrow we have Art. Remember to dress warm, summer is most certainly over now! Have a great evening.

Tuesday

We studied for our math test tomorrow. All students should have taken their math books home. They have the correct answers to the Chapter 1 test in the book. They should use this to study. Tomorrow morning is the 800 meter run. Please wear tennis shoes and the weather may be a little chilly. Tomorrow is also music day. Have a nice evening.

Monday

It's starting to feel like Fall outside! 5th graders continued to work on their Mineral Lab today. All students will be taking their first math test on Wednesday. Also on Wednesday they will be running the 800 in P.E. Please wear appropriate shoes. Spelling lists went home today. 6th graders have some tough homophones to study for spelling. Friday!

This week just flew by and I missed blogging a few days! I don't know where the time went. 5th graders started their mineral lab today. They are performing various tests to determine the name of each mineral. They were scientists in action today! 6th graders are continuing working on their Social Studies projects also. Midterms went home today, and the students should be very proud of their accomplishments and focus on the areas they want to improve in. Monday we have music. Have a great weekend!

Monday

What a great Monday back at school! Boy, has the temperature changed. A reminder to bring jackets to school as it is chilly in the morning and for morning recess. Everyone had their school picture taken today. Spelling lists went home today in their homework folder. Some students need to bring their Reading Logs back from last week. There is only a half day of school on Thursday. Students will be dismissed at 12:00. Tomorrow is Library day! The first Student Council meeting is tomorrow at 3:05. Have a wonderful evening!

Friday!

Another week has flown by! 6th grade continues to read the novel "Summer of the Monkeys" and 5th graders are reading "Bridge to Terabithia". On Thursdays we have "Book Talks" where we get to share about the books we are reading independently and we also read any of our journal entries that we want to share. It's a great time to celebrate each others work. School pictures are on Monday. The new reading homework logs went home today. Have a great weekend!

Thursday

5th graders completed the Writing Assessment today. Don't forget we have P.E. first thing tomorrow, so wear those tennis shoes. Book orders are also due tomorrow and we have school pictures on Monday. All students had math homework tonight and the spelling test is tomorrow. Tuesday

6th graders worked on Properties of Operations in math today and 5th graders worked on Adding and Subtracting mentally. We also worked on the computer lab typing poems and information for the 6th grade All About Me books. The 6th grade Spelling list is a bit harder this week, they need to study their words. 6th graders also need to finish reading Chapter 4 in Summer of the Monkeys. Tomorrow we have Health and Music. 5th graders will be starting the Writing Assessment tomorrow. Don't forget that school pictures are on Monday. Have a great night.

Monday

What a day! The students worked so hard today. We took the NWEA tests on Math, Reading, and Language. I'm sure they went home exhausted. No homework tonight except for the nightly reading homework. We did not even have time to do our planners. At the end of the day, Mrs. Knutson, our School Counselor, introduced herself to our class. She will be presenting lessons to our class on "Safe and Caring Schools". We have library tomorrow. Have a great evening!

Wednesday

Wednesday envelopes and binders went home today. Thank you parents for looking at the planners and signing them. 5th graders will have their first Social Studies test on Friday over Chapter 1. In reading we will be exploring different genres of books this year, so ask your student about the "40 Book Challenge". We will be doing this for the entire year and I challenge the students to read a variety of books.

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we listened to the book Talk at the Book Fair and heard about many exciting books. Tonight is Eagle Cliffs Open House and I hope to see you all this evening. No extra homework tonight. Have fun at the Open House and Ice Cream Social.

This week is flying by! 5th graders started Extended Studies today. 6th graders printed their ideas for "What Qualities Make a Great Leader". Look for these ideas on the 6th grade bulletin board in the hallway. Tomorrow is already Friday and we have P.E. first thing in the morning. Study those Spelling words for the test tomorrow. Wednesday

Wow! It is already Wednesday. Students took home their Wednesday envelopes. Please read the information that went home and send the envelope back to school tomorrow. Binders also went home today. Take a minute to check out the work that your child has been doing. Planners continue to go home daily as well as their red homework folder. We have lots to remember and this is a class full of responsible 5th and 6th graders! Thank you 6th grade parents for sending in the cereal boxes. The 6th graders are working on a really fun project.

Happy September! The class went to Library today and were able to check out books. They will be receiving their weekly reading homework at the end of this week. Look for that to go home on Friday. 6th graders learned exponents in math today and 5th graders were comparing large numbers. Tomorrow we have music and health.
