Wow! We hit the books today. Both grades completed their Spelling 1 Pretest and their list is in their Homework folder. We also completed our first math lesson today on Place Value. 6th grade students switched classes today for Science and Social Studies. They have Science homework tonight. All students took home a Spiral Review for math homework. This might be difficult for some. Parents may work on this homework with their students. Please check out their planners as well. Thanks for your help.
Sixth graders need to bring in a cereal box for a special project they are working on. We had another great day! Thanks for allowing me to work with your kids. They are awesome! I look forward to meeting all parents at our Open House next week.
Have a great evening.

Friday
Wow, Friday came fast! We had a wonderful first week. Today we worked with the computer lab. We have a class wiki where the students do their assignment on the computer and then I can look at them. We had a little bit of technical difficulty. Not everyone was able to save their work, but we will work out the kinks. Monday we will dig into the content and start hitting the books. 6th graders will begin traveling to the other teachers for Social Studies and Science. I hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

Thursday
Another great day! We had fun getting to know each other more and working together as a class. We put together our Math journals and took the Spelling Inventory. 6th graders put their portfolios together and will be working in these throughout the year. Take a look at their planners they received today. They are really cool! Tomorrow morning we go to P.E. first thing. Have a great night.

First Day!
What an exciting and fun first day! We have great kids in our 5th and 6th grade class and we spent a lot of time getting to know each other. Please note that your student may bring a water bottle and a healthy snack to keep at school. Also, they will be getting their school planners tomorrow and they cost $2.00. It seems as though subject dividers were not on some of the students' supply list. They do need those and need to have those by Monday, Aug. 31. Thanks for your help with this and for allowing me to be your child's teacher. I look forward to a great year!
